Warning: Don’t fall for fake CAPTCHAs
Most people don’t think twice about CAPTCHAs. And that’s being exploited. There’s a new twist on something you see every day. It’s catching people out in a way that only shows up later…
VideoThe way businesses communicate and connect to the internet is changing. Openreach has announced the full switch-off of the UK’s copper-based phone and broadband services, meaning businesses that haven’t yet upgraded need to take action – or risk being left disconnected.
By January 2027, Openreach will retire the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN). That means traditional phone lines and broadband services that rely on copper wiring, such as ADSL and FTTC (Superfast Fibre), will no longer work.
Instead, all businesses must switch to fully digital solutions such as:
Copper-based infrastructure has been in use for decades, but it’s now outdated and unable to support the speed and reliability businesses need. Full-fibre networks provide faster, more stable, and future-proofed connectivity that meets the demands of modern businesses.
The switch-off is a step towards an all-digital, cloud-based future, ensuring businesses can work efficiently, securely, and without disruption.
5.3 million lines still need to be switched before January 2027
Openreach is transitioning 40,000 lines per week but needs to hit 50,000 per week to stay on track
Openreach isn’t hiring additional engineers, meaning delays will only worsen if businesses leave it too late
If you’re still using FTTC, ADSL, or traditional phone lines, you must act now to avoid being caught up in last-minute backlogs and potential disruptions.
To keep your business running smoothly, follow these steps:
Check what services you’re using – Are you still relying on ADSL, FTTC, ISDN, or analogue phone lines?
Upgrade your phone system – Move to a VoIP/SIP solution to keep your business number and improve call quality.
Upgrade your internet – Switch to Full Fibre (FTTP) or SoGEA for faster speeds and greater reliability.
Plan ahead – The earlier you transition, the smoother the process will be, and you’ll avoid last-minute installation delays.
If you’re unsure about your current services or what’s available in your area, we can help you assess your options and ensure a smooth transition to digital.
Don’t wait until it’s too late – future-proof your business today. Get in touch to discuss your options.
