Free Microsoft Licences Ending for Charities

From 1 July 2025, Microsoft will stop offering free Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Office 365 E1 licences to charities.

Here’s what that means:

  • If a charity’s licence renews before 1 July 2025, they can keep using it until their next renewal date in 2026.
  • If it renews on or after 1 July 2025, the free licence will stop on that date.

What’s still available:

  • Up to 300 free Microsoft 365 Business Basic licences.
  • Up to 75% off other Microsoft 365 plans, including Business Premium and Office 365 E1.
  • Up to 2,000 free Office 365 E1 licences through Enterprise Agreements.

Paid licences are not affected.

Charities will get reminder emails from Microsoft 90, 60, and 30 days before their licence ends.

What You Can Do

If you work with or know a charity using Microsoft 365, please let them know about this change. It’s important they plan ahead so they don’t lose access to their tools and can plan for changes to budgets.

Need help or advice? We’re here to support you and the charities you care about.
